Taoist Temple
Located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City, this temple was built by Chinese community in 1972. You cannot miss this temple for it is a towering attraction accessible by three (3) routes.
The temple is open to those who believe and those who doesn't, worshippers and non-worshippers. Here, you can see devotees who pray to grant one wish of them. Their ritual and way of worship includes, going inside the chapel barefoot, washing of hands and dropping of two blocks of wood. The gist here is when the two blocks of wood are both face up then ine could make a wish. And if not, then it's not yet the right time for the wish to be granted and have to go back to the temple and do it again some other time.
Another belief and ritual done is climbing the 81 steps during Wednesdays and Sundays. The 81-steps represent the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures.
Most popular with grade school students, visiting the temple is sometimes included in the trips offered by travel agencies.
What will catch your attention is the entrance of the temple which is a replica of the Great Wall of China. You will have a look at scenic view of the downtown Cebu when you reached the top of the temple. A must-see..
